Tracey Nelson, a native of Lynchburg, VA, is the founder of The Spotless Bride Network and Ministries. She serves in a variety of capacities to spread the Gospel and to equip and heal the saints. She also conducts emotional healing workshops. She often uses the arts to get around the hearts protective barriers to help bring the Light and Love of the Good News into the wounds of fear, pain, and unbelief. She and her husband of over thirty years, Charlie, live near the Big Horn Mountains in Wyoming and enjoy hunting, taking drives and remodeling their house. Accelerating Our Progress Toward Christlikeness

What if we could accelerate our progress toward spiritual maturity and Christlikeness? We all want to grow in the Lord and become more like our Lord Jesus Christ, and to be used by Him. Born again, spirit-filled believers seeking to serve the Lord and His people through a variety of streams in the church invariably struggle through long, frustrating periods of time as they make spiritual progress. Some wilderness experience is, of course, necessary. Just ask Moses or Paul, whose time in the wilderness prepared them to make powerful impact for the Kingdom of God.

We pray, study the Word, experience the Lord's anointing, serve, try to live by faith, yet many are hindered from reaching their destiny. We seek maturity, intimacy with God and unity in the Body of Christ, only to react in the flesh, have dry prayer times and experience strife and division in the church. What stands in the way? Well, clearly the enemy of our souls is involved, and we need to take authority over him. Although as born-again Christians we have been transformed into new creations in Christ, there are many obstacles in our hearts and minds that must be worked out; obstacles of which we are often not aware.

Tracey Nelson merges her knowledge in psychology uniquely together with rich spiritual insights from Gods Word to write a book that will be very helpful to not just emotionally-troubled people, but to the average reader. I have headed prayer ministries at a full-gospel church for a number of years, following a stint as Assistant Pastor responsible for Pastoral Care, Foundational Teaching and Small Groups at another church in Erie, PA. For over 35 years of lay ministry in various streams, from Catholic Charismatic, to Covenant, to Prophetic, to Word of Faith, my focus has been on prayer, worship, prophetic ministry and healing. I believe that qualifies me to say this is one of the better books on the subject.

Author Really Delivers an Effective Program for Transformation

This book has pretty much got everything you need to quickly get past your issues and help you to become like Christ. After decades of study, I can recognize new revelation when I see it. It helps shed light on scripture that will shift your paradigm. I believe the author, Tracey Nelson, has hit the nail on the head. This information is going to finally help get us healed and transformed in an accelerated time frame. She explained why we have not been transformed as quickly as we and everyone around us has expected us to be. Yes, the world IS watching all of us! In the eight months since my purchase, I was able to overcome the rage inside of me that I could never defeat even after dedicated efforts to do so. The self-hatred I felt every time I fell into it was very damaging to me. Witnessing my struggle had tainted my testimony with my family, coworkers, and friends. Now they finally see a difference and are not so skeptical. I believe it is very important that everyone read this.

A lot of territory was covered; from an in-depth teaching on how rejection and the effects false shame have on the formation of our identity to understanding the Cross of Jesus in the light of our healing/identity. The book even explained what our spirit man is. There was also a good section on the positive effects the church has had on society to demonstrate the power new revelation like this can have. But it also discusses how immaturity in the church has caused a lot of negative effects as well. Healing the heart can remedy the harsh and prideful mask of religion that killed Jesus. It put on as an attempt to become righteous through self effort (self-righteous).

The author quoted many other experts to support her revelation. She cited Dr. Caroline Leaf's work which explained how the heart is not just a blood pump, but also a mini-brain that checks for congruencey. Tracey Nelson explained if science and the Bible say the heart is the organ of our faith, it is all the more important for us to get healed of old wounds which toss us like the waves of the sea keeping us in doubt and unbelief. Christians can finally understand why their transformation into Christ's likness is incomplete. That is because The church has not known how to heal the wounds of the heart!

What I liked about the book, unlike most Christian books, the author has cited lots of scientific sources. She also writes out most of the scriptures she is highlighting so I don't have to go look them up. It is very easy to read. This is not a testimonial book but a scholarly work that includes bits and pieces of her testimony to spice things up, along with excerpts from movies and books to illustrate her points.

Nelson has included plenty of useful tools to help us through the process like worksheets, questions after each chapter, exercises, and audio recordings to help bring healing can be downloaded off her website. These are awesome! I rest while listening to the Graham Cooke recording all of the time. To get best results, participate in the suggested activities. Her ministry offers services to help you get where you need to go, as well. That is why I included am including the link, here ([...]).

I used this book for a weekly bible study, the wealth of knowledge and transforamtion that indivuals experienced through this awkening was amazing. Anyone wanting to deal with their inner self and is willing to accept and receive change from the Master must read, share, read again and again. On New Year's Day, 1870, Adolph Korn, the author's ancestor and son of German immigrants, was captured by three Apaches near his family's cabin in central Texas. Adolph was traded to a band of Quahada Comanches, with whom he lived until November 1872, when the Comanches traded their captives for those held by the U.S. Army. Adolph was irrevocably changed. Considering himself Indian, he lived in a cave, and died alone in 1900. The author's search into Korn's sad life led him to the similar stories of eight other children captured in Texas between 1865 and 1871. Drawing on his tenacious research and interviews with the captives' descendants, Zesch compiles a gripping account of the lives of these children as they lived and traveled with their Indian captors. He delves into the reasons for their "Indianization," which for most of them lasted the rest of their lives, and discusses why they couldn't adjust to white society. Scott Zesch grew up in Mason County, Texas and graduated from Texas A&M University and Harvard Law School. He is the author of the novel Alamo Heights, and he is the winner of the Western History Association's Ray Allen Billington Award. Great Read.

I live in the very heart of the old Comancheria. In fact one of the Major Battles between the Comanches, and the US Calvary took place just miles from where I am typing this. The oldest Park in my Town is named after Randal Mackenzie. I've often wondered what this area looked like when it was the hunting grounds of the Comanches. What it must have been like to have been an early Settler here, and back towards the Hill Country of Texas. It is said that most Native Texans claim to be related to Quanah Parker, and therefore have some Comanche in them to some extent. I remember my Grand Mother telling me when I was a kid we had more than one Indian Tribe in our bloodline. I don't remember her mentioning the Comanche though. Anyway...
I first read Empire of the Summer Moon by S.C. Gwynne. An EXCELLENT book too. That led me to wanting to learn more about the people kidnapped by the Indians in Texas, so I read The Captured. I thoroughly enjoyed both and would recommend them to anyone interested. Both books are full of terrifying stories of life on the Texas Frontier in the 1800's, as well of fasinating dipictions of the Plains Indian Horse culture that roamed the Plains back then.

Solid history but also a great yarn

This fascinating chapter from Texas history tells the story of children who were captured by Comanche and Apache Indians in the years mainly following the Civil War. The book often reads like a memoir but is actually an extremely well-researched history of the captives. Most of these children witnessed the brutal killing of other, older whites (in some cases their own mothers, who were sometimes raped and tortured before their deaths), yet went on to feel like family members to their captors. Many did not wish to return to their white families when saved and had a hard time adjusting back into the rigid ways of the whites. This book is a superb history of their travails, but also a great read. I highly recommend it.

The Captured: A True Story of Abduction by Indians in Texas

I found this book easy to read about a diffucult period in American History. I began reading one called Empire of the Summer Moon by Gwyne. It was also well-written but very detailed. The Captured book was easier to read for me as it was not so detailed and better organized. Similar and same information was in both books as well as each book holding unique information. The Captured book was written by a relative of someone who was captured by the Apaches/Comanches. The sad thing about most of the non-Native abducted people, is that their families felt such a loss and responsibility to get them back. Many of the "slaves" were integrated into the tribe and felt they were part of the whole. When/if they were bought back and brought to their white families, they did not fit in and suffered predjudice from the community. Most of them felt they had been better off if left with their captors (new families). Some went back. The treatment of the "Indian problem" is not one to be proud of. However, if the Indians had been able to subdue the whites, they would have done similar to whites. Many of the tribal customs are horrific, and cold. It is an eye-opener, and there is no political correctness here.

A trip to a better world...amazing!

Reading this book is like traveling to some beautiful alternative universe where people are kind, love is everywhere, and life is good. It's more than just a "funny" book. It's a complete experience of another, nicer and more intelligent way to view the world.

I felt different after I read this book. Smarter. Nicer. Stronger. Happier. The world looked a little bit different. And I felt better about everything. (And I was happy already).

But the book is not only uplifting and empowering. It is hilariously funny! Much funnier than her previous two books. They were light time passers. Good for a chuckle. But Ellen has matured since then. And this book is at a higher level in all departments. I found myself laughing constantly at how clever something was. And I rarely find a book laugh out loud funny. But this one certainly is.

Full of Ellens winning life philosophy...told in the form of funny stories. Some true, some not. There is love. Freedom of thought. Creativity. Inspiration. This book felt like more than a book.

It feels like an experience. An experience not to be missed. Recommended.

Leave it to Ellen to make the Audiobook Different than the print edition.....

This is the third book for comedian/talk show host Ellen Degeneres and, if ever there was a book that should be "read by the author", it's one by Ellen. She honed her craft of comedy by doing "stand-up" and she actually "performs" the audio version, more than just reading it. Ellen talks fast and so the 3 hours on the three CDs literally fly by! And the words aren't all the same as the print edition (which I also read through). She re-wrote parts of it to "talk to - you - the listener" and even adds a chapter (Chapter 29) just for the audiobook. Speaking of chapters, the print edition does not have numbered chapters for these short essays. But Ellen announces a number before each one. Since I started with the audio version first, I wondered - when I got to the chapter titled "Meditation", which contains 20 seconds or so of silence - how she'd deal with this in the print edition. So I looked and there were three blank pages. The reverse holds true for the chapter titled "For the Children" where there are full-page illustrations to color. For the audiobook, Ellen tells the listener that there is a .pdf file on the CD with the illustrations - though I haven't checked that out yet.

The print edition is 240 pages with short chapters and plenty of space between the lines so you can easily pick it up and put it down as time permits. These are short essays of observations on everything from being judge on American Idol to being married to her wife Portia. Either format will entertain you - it did me - if you are an Ellen fan (I am). The Print version allows you to go back and read - or share - a special chapter., while the audio version allows you to hear her voice and timing.

Laugh out Loud funny

I don't normally write reviews but I had to review this book because I love Ellen and love this book and want it to be successful for her! Funniest most witty book I have read in a long time. You really have to know and appreciate Ellen's humor to read and understand this book. It very much reminds me of her stand up comedy dvd "here and now". It is a lot of the same humor and I can literally hear her voice and how she says things while I am reading this book. This book is not only hysterical but it also has really wonderful words of wisdom in it. She brings you back to a much simpler time and makes you realize how ridiculous life has gotten with laziness, busy-ness, and technology to name a few. I read this book in a day and it was amazing from the first word to the last.

Great book for starters

If you want to learn ceramics, either you buy an excellent book which covers everything -- or almost -- or you buy a book devoted to each subject, wether it is pinching, slab construction, throwing, firing, glazing, or whatever. And even in each subject you will find several books which complement each other. Now, I hate that, because since I was a university student, I hate the flood of technical books on the same subject, which are nothing but copies of each other. That's why I always look for classics on each subject.

Considering the books I've already read, I dare to say that this book is indeed a classic. You won't find here inspiration on form or decoration, because it's not the purpose. This book it's about flawless handbuilding, with unmatched detailed step-by-step instruction, amazing cutaway photos, and terrific advice to get your job done while avoiding common mistakes that would destroy your work in progress.

Surely you will find always something missing but you'll will find a lot more missing in all other books.

If you are interested in serious handbuilding, get this book. Than, you have plenty of others on various handbuilding methods for inspiration on form and decoration.

I had to get this book for content for a District of Columbia licensing exam. Amazing that they required such an outdated text. Even a cursory review of just the pictures is like looking at a textbook from the 1980s. If this book wasn't required I would never have purchased it.

Do yourself a favor and find another book for modalities. I know a few great ones, but this isn't the place for plugging other authors.

2 stars for info that is fairly timely, but the approach, the illustrations, and the approach seem very outdated.
