Finally a black man gets it. I could not stop reading this book. Mr porter backs up his statements with fact. All Black women should consider this book a personal bible. Black women need to understand to overcome sexism and racism we must first love ourselves, fight for ourselves and depend on each other.

Every Black woman living in this country needs to have this book in their possession immediately! This book will indeed explain everything you wanted to know about life but were afraid to ask a man. Thank you Michael Porter for laying out the facts as raw as you did. This is a book that will save your life and enlighten you to progress independently. I couldn't put it down! It's an easy read but it's straight up with no chaser! I highly recommend this book to my sistas out there who want to know the real deal!

Finally, some of our Black men get it

regarding the plight of Black women in America today. Today, we see far more female heads of household than ever before. The whole popular culture attacks Black/biracial Black women on a daily basis and Black/mixed Black women are the fastest growing prison population.

This book talks about what people have said in private about Black womens' worsening plight. I hope Americans get a chance to read this book and to meditate, then do something about it because we are losing the fight in the Black community. If this goes on, the community would be only a memory.

Though millions of Little House on the Prairie viewers hated Nellie Oleson and her evil antics, Arngrim grew to love her character—and the freedom and confidence Nellie inspired in her.

In Confessions of a Prairie Bitch, Arngrim describes growing up in Hollywood with her eccentric parents: Thor Arngrim, a talent manager to Liberace and others, whose appetite for publicity was insatiable, and legendary voice actress Norma MacMillan, who played both Gumby and Casper the Friendly Ghost. She recalls her most cherished and often wickedly funny moments behind the scenes of Little House: Michael Landon's "unsaintly" habit of not wearing underwear; how she and Melissa Gilbert (who played her TV nemesis, Laura Ingalls) became best friends and accidentally got drunk on rum cakes at 7-Eleven; and the only time she and Katherine MacGregor (who played Nellie's mom) appeared in public in costume, provoking a posse of elementary schoolgirls to attack them.

Arngrim relays all this and more with biting wit, but she also bravely recounts her life's challenges: her struggle to survive a history of traumatic abuse, depression, and paralyzing shyness; the "secret" her father kept from her for twenty years; and the devastating loss of her "Little House husband" and best friend, Steve Tracy, to AIDS, which inspired her second career in social and political activism. About the Author

Alison Arngrim starred as Nellie Oleson for seven years on the TV series Little House on the Prairie. She also guest-starred on The Love Boat, Fantasy Island, and the NBC movie of the week I Married Wyatt Earp. She has appeared in numerous films and plays, and her stand up comedy show, "Confessions of a Prairie Bitch," has become a worldwide phenomenon. Arngrim also volunteers for nonprofit organizations such as AIDS Project Los Angeles and the National Association to Protect Children. She lives in Los Angeles with her husband.

I adored this book!

Huge Little House on the Prairie fan here, so I had high hopes when I got this book. Boy, did it deliver! Alison Arngrim has a fantastic voice, she's a natural born story teller with just the right about of snark and wry wit. She blends hilarious behind the scene stories from her years on LHOTP with her true-life struggles with incest, unemployment, and typecasting. From actress to activist, Arngrim handles each topic with honesty and humor. This book is truly an inspiration.

This is a page turner! I couldn't put it down! Alison opens up her life and doesn't forget to tell you enough about the cast and crew of little house (the reason you bought her book, right!!) that you get a good glimpse into working on the set every day. Lots of emotion, but never does she make you feel like you should pity her. Great writing from a strong and confident woman!

I love Little House In The Prairie and continue to watch it in reruns today....(I'm watching the 11am COZI TV episode RIGHT now where Charles and Isaiah and their families go on s gold rush because its been raining in Walnut Grove for months).
I love Alison's book....couldn't put it down. Such a great read. I felt like she was sitting and telling me the story.

It's here after years of waiting

Everyone that knows about this book has been expecting it for years. I even thought it'd never come out. But here it is now in my hands, and I'm really happy with it.

The book is all about the rough images drawn by Disney artists over for classics like Aladdin, The Little Mermaid, The Jungle Book, Peter Pan and so many others. There's very few sketches of the main characters for almost all big Disney animated movies, so there's something for everyone.

The book has no text, except for an intro by Charles Solomon, where he mentions a few of the famous animators and what they drew. Then, it jumps directly to sketches and more sketches. There's no other text besides that introduction. While it's nice that the drawings are big so you can appreciate every detail, it's bad that there are no credits for each drawing. You're left wondering who the artist might be (although if you're a Disney animation freak, you might identify the style and quality of some of them).

The book is similar in style to Animation (Walt Disney Animation Studios: The Archive Series), although the focus of this book is the rough drawings.

I think that if you're a collector, or you like drawing, you're going to be really happy with this book. Enjoy!

Beautiful Book

I think this book is a wonderful treasure for Disney fans. The pages feel like you're looking through an actual sketch book and it's great to see the different drawings for the characters. Of course, you won't get as in depth of a look per film/character as you would for a "making of" book, but you get a good a mount of stuff, ranging from Mickey Mouse, all the way to "Tangled."

It's a lovely book for a Disney fan looking for a great book. Like someone else said, the only flaw are that there are no notes of any kind, so you can't tell who did what when and things like that. Still, a five star book.

I love this book! The pencil sketches are gorgeous, and have a "life of their own", often more so than the images that end up on screen. If you consider yourself an "historian" and want a detailed analysis of the art in the book, you will be disappointed. If, however, you want a beautiful book of art that is EXACTLY what the publisher describes, then this is for you!

About the Author
Claudio Corradetti is research and teaching fellow at the Faculty of Law, University of Oslo. Corradetti holds a Doctorate in Political Theory from LUISS Rome, a Master of Philosophy from the University of London and a post-graduate Diploma in European Public Law from the European Group of Public Law, EPLO, Athens. He has been visiting at Cornell, Oxford, and the European University Institute, Florence. He was awarded a visiting research and teaching grant at McGill University, Montreal. He has published widely in books and international journals. Some of his most recent works include Corradetti, Claudio (2013). What does cultural difference require of human rights? He writes primarily on political reconciliation, transitional justice and the ethics of war. Eisikovits is author of Sympathizing with the Enemy: Reconciliation, Transitional Justice, Negotiation (Brill and Republic of Letters, 2009), as well as the forthcoming Kill Me Tomorrow: A Theory of Truces (Palgrave Macmillan, 2015).
