This beautiful book contains charcoal sketches featuring hands and faces from the life of Christ.
It is supplemented by verse written by Hans Bourna, and translated from Dutch publication.
Rien Poortvliet is considered to be Holland's greatest artists, and I treasure this volume.

All Rien Poortvliet's books are tributes to the subject they illustrate. This man was an incredible artist whose pictures always expressed emotions that will move you. In this book, he is not so much painting Jesus, but rather all the people who surround him, the people of the day. Every painting is a treasure of emotion. They are darker than his usual paintings and thus bear the mark of Dutch painters.
